Oh my goodness, is that a clownfish mermaid? I think we've got a life-completing piece here!
I just love the incredibly languid feel of this mermaid. Mellow indeed. Her tail fluidly flows through the water like jelly, and her hair flows right with it. I love the sight of her eyelashes curling up with bliss, seemingly condensing to the point of making her eyelids too heavy to hold up. And that sweet pose of knotted fingers makes it very clear that a more contented character cannot be found.
The reddish patches above her elbows and on her shoulders really add to this. What a cute character here. Great job.
oh wow, I really didn't notice that! I was trying to establish a contrast, but with the colors (the bright orange colors on the tail and the soft blue and purple colors of her hair and top), but her calm appearance also seems to strengthen this contrast. Thanks for pointing that out!
good question! I used to apply colored inks directly before I found out a technique where I can ink the whole picture in black and then change the color of the inks in certain places. I only learned this technique a few days back. It's really sped up productivity for me.
