Thank you! Classic Sonic has a lot of old-school cartoon-like appeal to him (heck, his creator admits to being influenced by old-school cartoons like Felix the Cat when designing him), and I wanted to emulate that same appeal here.
'Old School' or 'Classic Toons' are really fun and charismatic to watch. I'm also very inspired by past toons that seem to have a lot of life compared to most cartoons nowadays... although 'Adventure Time' and 'MLP: Friendship is Magic' have elements of 'Classic Toons'. Too bad... I actually like the idea behind it. Taking actual control of the character instead of just letting everything auto-run seems good. Maybe it's... the aesthetics?... I don't know, you can still try Sonic 4 episode 1 and 2.
I really like this because it reminds me of arcade cabinet and marquee art. Sonic and Mario these days are locked down on what they look like. In the early days of a character, the look changes quite a bit. This has a very early/classic look to it that really cool. Great job.
This is some real nostalgia to me! The classic Sonic games are among my favorite games(especially Sonic 2 and CD) and I could definitely see why a lot of fans would prefer classic over modern. I love how Sonic and the Badniks are drawn in your style. The background title screen for the old Zones is a really nice touch too.
